1/4cupsugar- I prefer unbleached organic cane sugar
2Tbsp.active dry yeast
1/3cup+ 2 Tbsp organic cold pressed olive or avocado oil
1tsp.salt
1egg farm fresh preferred
3 3/4cup + 1/4 cup unbleached organic all purpose flour*you may need additional flour if you live in a humid climate*
Instructions
Lightly grease a 9×13 baking pan using 2 Tbsp olive or avocado oil.
In the bowl of your stand mixer, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Allow to proof for approximately 2-5 minutes until nice and bubbly.
Mix in olive oil, salt, and egg.
Add 3 3/4 cup flour- ONE cup at a time- until combined. Let the stand mixer knead the dough for approximately 8 minutes. The dough will be fairly soft and smooth when ready.
Lightly flour your surface using 1/4 cup and begin shaping dough into 12 individual balls. – I prefer to cut the dough with a dough cutter and then pinch and fold a few times and roll the dough into small balls. You should be able to feel tension in the dough when rolling it into a ball.
Place dough in a prepared 9×13 baking dish.
*IMPORTANT STEP* Lightly brush milk over each roll. This will give them the perfect brown tops.
Preheat oven to 375 F. Place pan on the top rake of oven and let the dough rise while your oven is preheating.
Bake in a preheated oven for 20 minutes or until the top of the rolls are golden brown. Brush with butter before serving & enjoy!
Notes
*a stand mixer is preferred, but these can be done by hand*
